The story of Homeopathy

The story of Natural Medicine based on Natural Laws

Describing Homeopathic Medicine as natural has more to do with its mechanism of action. To say it’s safe, gentle, and effective with no side effects would be closer to a true understanding. That being said, it’s more appropriate to describe Homeopathy as diluted medicine that respects the laws of nature. Some of our best remedies are made from substances that we wouldn’t consume otherwise. Today, quantum physics is able show how the molecules of different homeopathic medicines vary in shape. This debunks the notion put forward by critics, that because there is no crude trace of the original substance, that it must be placebo. Homeopathic preparation is one part mother tincture (see glossary of terms) 99 parts solution and that repeats until the 12th dilution whereby there is no trace of the original substance. Potencies can be diluted infinitely, but we tend to work within the range of 12ch to 10K on average.

This brilliant German medical doctor and chemist Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, came to realize, like Hippocrates 2000 years before him, that there were two ways of healing the sick; the way of opposites and the way of similars. With this understanding Dr. Hahnemann went on to pioneer his new method of healing based on the way of similars. He named this new method Homeopathy from the two Greek words meaning “similar suffering”.

Why did Dr Hahnemann go to all that trouble over 200 years ago?

His drive to seek better treatments as a medical doctor was in the context of medical practices of the time which included: purgatives, emetics, opium, cinchona bark, camphor, potassium nitrate, mercury in addition to bloodletting. If we look at one of the substances he experimented with at the time, for instance Mercury, if taken in large quantities could harm but in small amounts has incredible therapeutic value. He came up with the idea of dilution to solve this problem.

Hahnemann stumbled upon this idea by observing that cinchona, the bark of a tree used at the time to treat malaria, if taken in large doses would produce malaria like symptoms. This was fascinating to Hahnemann who explored this idea for years.

I often tell parents new to Homeopathy not to fear dosing because if it’s not the right remedy it won’t resonate. A well indicated remedy can have an immediate effect, especially in first aid and acute illness because the symptoms are intense and clear.

Energy medicine survived the test of time, it’s cost effective, and it works. One of the things I love about this old medicine is that we don’t have to be concerned about interactions with other medicines; naturally sourced or allopathic.

Thank you, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, for your brilliant observations and innovative energy medicine.
